Cato University 2010

by David E. Shellenberger on March 31, 2010

I have had the pleasure of attending three Cato University programs, one in Washington, D.C., in 2004, and two in San Diego in 2007 and 2009. The programs are offered by the Cato Institute, the prominent libertarian think tank based in D.C. This summer’s program (July 25-30) is again being held at the paradisiacal Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego.

Each of the programs has been excellent, with stimulating and informative speakers. The programs are not only educational, but provide the chance to speak with leading libertarians, meet people from around the world, and make new friends. The experience also reminds those of us who endeavor to keep the flame of liberty alive that we are not alone.

The Director of the programs is the renowned Tom G. Palmer, Senior Fellow of the Cato Institute, Vice President for International Programs of Atlas Economic Research Foundation, and General Director of the Atlas Global Initiative for Free Trade, Peace, and Prosperity. The equally renowned David Boaz, Executive Vice President of the Cato Institute, is one of the many fine speakers who will be at this year’s program.
