Cato University 2011

by David E. Shellenberger on June 26, 2011

Last year I wrote about the then-pending Cato University 2010 program in San Diego, California, noting that I had attended three of the prior programs. As planned, I did attend the event last summer, and found it as fulfilling as the prior three. The Cato Institute has archived audio podcasts of the presentations on its website, and these are highly recommended.

The program this summer will be held in Annapolis, Maryland, from July 24-29.  The schedule includes presentations by leading scholars of philosophy, economics, history, and public policy. The event promises to be, as always, a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow, and to meet people from around the world who share an interest in liberty.

The people we meet, and the experiences we have, help make us who we are. My life has been greatly enriched by the knowledge and perspective I have gained, and the friendships I have formed, through Cato University.  Every day, I use what I have learned, and every day, I am in touch with people I have met through the programs.

I encourage people to attend this summer, if possible, using the online registration form, or to consider attending in the future. The Cato Institute’s invitation is correct:

“Would you like to meet like-minded people from all over? Have a spectacular vacation while sharing ideas on liberty, free markets, economics, history, philosophy, individual rights, the dangers of a sprawling and intruding government – among other subjects? If so, Cato University is definitely for you.
