Animal Welfare
As Mahatma Gandhi said, in a sentiment that is often paraphrased, ”The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” Buddhism teaches compassion towards all “sentient beings,” and the rich Biblical injunctions for man’s stewardship encompass kindness towards animal life.
